Newborn Care Class Offered at Hendersonville Medical Center for Expectant Parents

HENDERSONVILLE, TN (March 26, 2007) - For over 26 years, Hendersonville Medical Center has been bringing babies into the world. With over 15,000 babies delivered since then, the physicians, staff and administration at Hendersonville Medical Center know the value of not only providing the latest technological capabilities, but also giving parents confidence in caring for their new little one once they leave the hospital.  Many moms and dads have questions and concerns about caring for their new baby once they return home.  Knowing what to expect during the early weeks and months of parenthood will help you care for your newborn with confidence.  To better prepare expectant parents for this task, Hendersonville Medical Center is offering a Newborn Care Class that covers some of the basics taught by McKenzie Crawford, RN, ASPCO.

On Tuesday, April 3, from 7:00 to 9:15 p.m., parents will learn specific information on how to care for their baby once they take them home from the hospital. This class is a great resource for first time parents as it will cover newborn characteristics, infant milestones, and recognizing the signs of illness.

“If new parents understand the basics of newborn care, those first weeks at home can be more enjoyable and less anxiety provoking,” Crawford, says.

Bathing, temperature-taking, changing diapers, and feeding and soothing techniques when caring for your newborn are other topics discussed during this class.  Located in the Learning Resources Center on the first floor, the cost of the Newborn Care Class is $25 per couple.  Hendersonville Medical Center is committed to helping expectant and new parents prepare for pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenthood.  To register for this class or for more information on other childbirth classes offered at Hendersonville Medical Center, please call TriStar MedLine at 615-342-1919 or 1-800-242-5662.
